'Saturday Night Live': Christoph Waltz is 'Djesus Uncrossed' and more highlights
This week's "Saturday Night Live," hosted by Christoph Waltz, was quite a bit better than the past few. Chalk it up to better writing, or chalk it up to an accomplished actor hosting, instead of a pop star. Whatever it is, last night's show featured quite a few funny sketches.
The hit of the night was a fake trailer for Quentin Tarantino's next movie, "Djesus Uncrossed." Billed as the "ultimate historical revenge fantasy," Waltz starred as Djesus, in what looked like a cross between all of Tarantino's movies.
The week's other big standout was the cold open. The show's opening sketch is often very hit or miss, but this one was a solid piece of comedy. Jason Sudeikis and Cecily Strong played employees aboard the Carnival Cruise ship Triumph, which was stranded at sea after an on board fire knocked out power. The two introduced various "entertainers" to distract from the nightmare of a cruise. When that didn't work, they eventually went through a list of places on the ship that had been converted into toilets (Just about everywhere).
Even the monologue was fun, with Waltz singing a tune. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday night.
