Dylan McDermott takes 'Hostages' and more pilot casting news
CBS has cast Dylan McDermott in its drama pilot "Hostages," teaming him with Toni Collette."Hostages" is a thriller about a surgeon (Collette) who's chosen to operate on the president of the United States and gets caught up in a conspiracy when her family is taken hostage. McDermott will play an FBI agent who has a central role in the conspiracy.
If it's picked up, "Hostages" will be McDermott's first broadcast-network role in five years (ABC's "Big Shots" was the last one). He most recently starred on FX's "American Horror Story."
Other pilot castings:
- Virginia Madsen has joined NBC's modern-day "Hatfields & McCoys." The "Sideways" Oscar nominee will play a member of the McCoy family who helps restart the ages-old feud between the two families after her husband is murdered.
- NBC's "Bloodline" has cast Skyler Samuels ("The Nine Lives of Chloe King") in its lead role. The show centers on a young woman caught in the middle of a battle between "two warrior families" in suburbia. [Deadline]
- Tommy Dewey ("The Mindy Project") has scored a role in the straight-to-series comedy "Dads" at FOX. He'll play one of two close friends and business partners whose lives are upheaved when their fathers move in with them. [TVLine]
- Matthew Goode ("Watchmen") has been cast in Showtime's pilot "Vatican," about the politics and power plays in the upper reaches of the Catholic Church. He'll play a close confidant of the pope.
