'The Office' hires Roseanne Barr for a guest role

A big sitcom star will visit "The Office" before it closes up shop at the end of this season.

Roseanne Barr will guest on an upcoming episode, playing a talent agent named Carla Fern, the AP reports. She's scheduled to film her scenes Wednesday (Jan. 30).

And who would need a talent agent on "The Office"? One Andy Bernard (Ed Helms), who apparently rekindles his dreams of stardom after returning from his boat trip.

Barr's "Office" appearance will be her first appearance on a scripted comedy since she guested on "My Name Is Earl" in 2006. She starred in and co-created an NBC pilot called "Downwardly Mobile" last year, but it wasn't picked up.
