'Game of Thrones' casts a bear and shoots in Los Angeles for major Season 3 scene

jaime-lannister-game-of-thrones-season-3.jpgSeason 3 of "Game of Thrones" debuts in only two short months, but showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have only just cast its latest addition. As confirmed by author George R.R. Martin, the show has cast a live bear for a major scene in the upcoming season.

In addition to the animal, named Bart the Bear after the previous Bart the Bear who filmed in "Game of Thrones," Benioff tells Entertainment Weekly that some of the HBO series' actors are being brought to Los Angeles to shoot for the first time. That adds the United States to the long list of countries that "Game of Thrones" films in, which includes Northern Ireland, Croatia, Iceland and Morocco.

"For the first time, we're flying in actors to L.A.," Benioff says. "So it ends up being five countries and three units this year. It's just exploded."

Fans of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series should be able to pinpoint the exact scene that Bart will appear in this season. Brief spoiler, but he'll likely be shooting opposite Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's Jaime Lannister and Gwendoline Christie's Brienne of Tarth. For those of you who don't know what you're in for, this is a scene you won't want to miss.

"Game of Thrones" returns to HBO on March 31.
