Chris Cuomo exiting ABC's "20/20," joining CNN morning show
Longtime ABC newsman Chris Cuomo is reportedly exiting the network's signature newsmagazine "20/20" to join CNN as host of a newly designed morning show.TMZ published the unconfirmed report, which has credibility given Jeff Zucker's new role as president of CNN Worldwide and his recent (confirmed) poaching of ESPN's Rachel Nichols to host a weekend sports show.
CNN is rumored to be eyeing a possible pairing of Cuomo and prime time anchor Erin Burnett on the morning show.
One of Zucker's greatest claims to fame was executive producing NBC's "Today" from 1992-2000.
UPDATE: Cuomo's departure from ABC and hiring at CNN was confirmed today (Jan. 29) by both networks. David Muir has been named Cuomo's replacement on "20/20" and CNN boss Jeff Zucker announced that Cuomo will be hosting a new and still untitled morning show for the network.
