'The Voice' pays tribute to Newtown shooting victims with 'Hallelujah': Watch the performance

the-voice-hallelujah-newtown-tribute.jpgLive shows television airing this week have the difficult task of entertaining a nation in mourning. How do you pay tribute to the fallen children and faculty members killed in the horrific Newtown shootings, and still wrap up a lively season of song and dance?

On tonight's final performance episode of this season of "The Voice," coaches Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, and Cee-Lo Green honored the victims killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School with a moving performance of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."

The cast and contestants held cards displaying the names and ages of the deceased, while they sang an abbreviated cover of the song. It was a touching way to pay homage to the tragedy, as the nation struggles to make sense of it, without sensationalizing the violence or the perpetrator.
