'Private Practice' gets a series finale date

private-practice-finale-date.jpgABC has set a series finale date for "Private Practice."

The "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff starring Kate Walsh will end its six-season run on Tuesday, Jan. 22 with an episode titled, fittingly, "In Which We Say Goodbye." Former series regular Audra McDonald is returning for the finale, but beyond that little is known about how the show will wrap up.

The titles of the two episodes leading up to the finale, which ABC has also released, don't offer much help in deciphering a final story arc. They're called "Good Fries Are Hard to Come By" (airing Jan. 8) and "Full Release" (Jan. 15).

When ABC picked up "Private Practice" for just 13 episodes this season, it was widely expected 2012-13 would be its last year. The network confirmed those suspicions in October. "There was a lot of discussion and debate but, in the end, the guys at the network and the studio and I all decided that 'Private Practice' was reaching its finish line," creator Shonda Rhimes said at the time.

Will you be tuning in for the series finale? What do you think of the final season of "Private Practice" so far?
