'Mockingbird Lane' officially dead: NBC 'not moving forward with' 'Munsters' reboot

"I tweet with a heavy heart," showrunner Bryan Fuller wrote on Twitter Thursday afternoon (Dec. 27). "NBC not moving forward with #MockingbirdLane. From producers and cast, thank you all for enthusiasm and support."

It's not surprising news, especially since the network repurposed the expensive "Mockingbird" pilot to air as a Halloween special, on Friday, Oct. 26. And although it drew respectable ratings in its Friday-night time slot, "Mockingbird" -- starring Portia de Rossi, Jerry O'Connell, and Eddie Izzard -- wasn't enough to persuade the network to suddenly champion it as a series.

Fuller does have NBC's full support for "Hannibal," the upcoming prequel focusing on the young Hannibal Lecter and premiering in 2013.
