CBS midseason: 'Rules of Engagement' and 'Golden Boy' debut, 'CSI: NY' ends early

CBS has set its schedule for midseason, with one new series set to debut and veteran comedy "Rules of Engagement" returning to the schedule.

The new drama, "Golden Boy," will premiere at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 in the spot normally occupied by "Vegas." That's only a temporary change, though -- after two Tuesday airings, "Golden Boy" will move to Fridays at 9 starting March 8. "Vegas" then rejoins the Tuesday lineup on March 12.

"CSI: NY," meanwhile, will end its season on Feb. 22, meaning it will have an uninterrupted run of new episodes when it returns from its holiday hiatus in January.

"Golden Boy" follows the rise of a New York City detective (Theo James, "Bedlam," "Underworld: Awakening") who becomes the youngest police commissioner in the city's history -- though his ambition takes a toll on his personal life and professional relationships. Chi McBride ("Human Target," "Pushing Daisies") also stars as his veteran partner.

"Rules of Engagement" will open its seventh season on Monday, Feb. 4, plugging into the 8:30 p.m. spot vacated by the canceled "Partners." CBS has also set premiere dates for the next cycles of "Survivor" (Wednesday, Feb. 13) and "The Amazing Race" (Sunday, Feb. 17).

Not on the midseason schedule is new comedy "Friend Me." The show's co-creator, Alan Kirschenbaum, died in an apparent suicide in October, and there's been no word since then about the show's future.
