'The Mob Doctor' canceled at FOX but will air all 13 episodes; 'Touch' premiere moves again

mob-doctor-canceled-fox.jpgFOX has made official what most TV observers have anticipated since very early in the season: "The Mob Doctor" is getting whacked.

The low-rated drama will, however, get to finish out its 13-episode order. The scheduling of the last four episodes practically screams "burnoff," but it is being allowed to play out the string.

Following a regularly scheduled airing on Monday (Dec. 3), the show will go off the air for three weeks as FOX goes into holiday programming mode. The final four episodes of the series, which stars Jordana Spiro, will air on Dec. 29 (a Saturday), Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve), Jan. 5 (another Saturday) and Jan. 7, opposite college football's BCS championship game on ESPN.

"The Mob Doctor" averages 4.45 million viewers and a paltry 1.3 rating among adults 18-49. Aside from "Fringe" (4 million), which is also ending this season, it's the least-watched drama on any of the big four networks this fall.

In other FOX news, the network has moved the Season 2 premiere of "Touch" yet again. Instead of a one-hour premiere on Feb. 1, the drama starring Kiefer Sutherland will get a two-hour launch on Friday, Feb. 8.
