'Last Resort's' Scott Speedman is 'not really a beach person'

scott-speedman-last-resort-abc-325.jpgZap2it: How are you adjusting to shooting "Last Resort" in Hawaii, including at the North Shore beach, where "Lost" filmed a lot of scenes?

Scott Speedman: I mean, I love it. It took me a minute to get used to being here, but I've really settled in. I get into the culture here. I got a house in the mountains. I'm not really a beach person.

Zap2it: How is the drive into work?

Scott Speedman: I got up at 3:50 this morning to get to work; never done that before. On the way here, I listened to all big movie score music, like the "Batman" theme, Hans Zimmer stuff, just big, thematic stuff, that lends itself to this type of show. It gets me in the mood, really.

Zap2it: Are you a sports fan?

Scott Speedman: I'm a big basketball junkie, but I watch everything basketball. I don't have a team. I'm more into the match-ups, just the game itself. Andre [Braugher] has teams. I'm not a big team guy. I'm very Canadian about this, not a nationalist.

Zap2it: Today, your character, submarine USS Colorado executive officer Sam Kendal, has to put on his dress Navy whites. Since your own outfit is a white T-shirt, cuffed jeans and boots, how do you feel about that?

Scott Speedman: It's kind of cool, actually. It does something. It's horrible fabric, but it looks good, and it does something. For me, I'm very slouchy and wrinkly, so it does something, makes me look good.
