MTV cancels 'America's Best Dance Crew'

americas-best-dance-crew-canceled-mtv.jpgMTV has canceled its reality competition, "America's Best Dance Crew." Produced by Randy Jackson of "American Idol" fame, the series has completed seven seasons.

Unlike its broadcast network rivals, "So You Think You Can Dance" and "America's Got Talent", "ABDC" featured only groups of dancers -- the dance crews -- competing to win a $100,000 prize. Mario Lopez hosted the program throughout its run, while the judging panel consisted of a variety of choreographers, singers and other entertainers. During the show's final season, these judges were Lil Mama, JC Chavez and Dominic "D-Trix" Sandoval.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms the cancellation, which follows several seasons of ratings declines in the teen and young adult demographics.

MTV released a short statement regarding the cancellation news: "We are grateful to Randy Jackson and Warner Horizon for having brought our audience seven amazing seasons of dance with 'ABDC,' and look forward to more successful and dynamic entertaining collaborations in the future."
