'Liz & Dick' draws solid but not great ratings for Lifetime
The intense coverage of Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime's movie "Liz & Dick" didn't translate to huge ratings. The movie, which aired Sunday (Nov. 25), still pulled in a solid 3.5 million viewers. But it was only the fourth most-watched movie Lifetime has aired this year, behind its "Steel Magnolias" remake (6.5 million), "Drew Peterson: Untouchable" (5.8 million) and "Abducted: The Carlina White Story" (3.5 million).
The demographic numbers for "Liz & Dick" were also in the OK-not-great range: The movie drew 1.3 million adults 25-54 and 1.3 million adults 18-49, with women making up the great majority of viewers in both demos.
Critics were, to say the least, not very kind to the movie or to Lohan and co-star Grant Bowler, who played Richard Burton. The movie was a trending topic on Twitter pretty much all of Sunday night, but the social-media snark didn't lead to bigger tune-in.
