'Last Man Standing' and 'Malibu Country' get new-episode orders from ABC
At least one freshman TV series received some good news today. "Malibu Country," starring Reba McEntire as a woman wronged by her cheating country star husband, has received an order for five new episodes, ABC announced today (Nov. 28).
The network matched the order for its lead-in, the sophomore sitcom "Last Man Standing," the top-rated show in Friday's 8:00 p.m. half-hour in the 18-49 demographic.
Two other ABC freshman series recently received full-season orders: "Nashville," the country-music soap starring Connie Britton, and another 30-minute sitcom, "The Neighbors." Shonda Rhimes' "Scandal" also got a full second season.
ABC's show of good faith came on the same day that three other new series -- FOX's "Mob Doctor," The CW's "Emily Owens, M.D." and MTV's "The Inbetweeners"-- were canceled by their networks. (The medical dramas will air all 13 of their original episode orders.)
"Last Man Standing" and "Malibu Country" air Friday nights at 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. on ABC.
