'Guys With Kids' and 'Elementary' get more episodes, 'Vegas' cut by one
NBC has ordered four more episodes of the Wednesday-night sitcom, bringing its total for the season to 17, Deadline reports. The site also says that CBS has upped the order for "Elementary" from 22 to 24, but it cut back "Vegas" by one episode. Order reductions aren't ever good news for a show, but somehow the idea of "Vegas" having 21 episodes seems appropriate.
"Guys With Kids" hasn't pulled very big ratings for NBC this fall, but they have at least been consistent. The show is averaging 5.5 million viewers and a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49, with about 20 percent of the viewer count coming from DVR viewing. It usually built on its "Animal Practice" lead-in, although it dropped some from the "Whitney" premiere this week.
"Elementary" and "Vegas" have both been strong performers for CBS. "Elementary" -- which recently scored the ratings-boosting post-Super Bowl spot -- averages 14.3 million viewers and a 3.5 in the 18-49 demo. "Vegas" has cooled somewhat since its big debut in September, but for the season it's still drawing better than 15 million viewers per episode, along with a 2.7 rating in adults 18-49.
