Brad Pitt developing an HBO drama; Stephen Colbert goes 'Hobbit'-crazy
Brad Pitt is getting into the TV business.His production company, Plan B, and HBO are developing a drama called "Paper" about a former gangster working as a debt collector, Variety reports. It's based on a New Yorker article called "Pay Up" by Jake Halpern.
Pitt and Dede Gardner will executive produce, and Wells Tower is on board to write a pilot script.

- Comedy Central host and avowed J.R.R. Tolkien fan Stephen Colbert will be all "Hobbit," all the time next week on "The Colbert Report." His guests for the week include "The Hobbit" director Peter Jackson (Wednesday) and three of the movie's stars: Ian McKellen (Monday), Martin Freeman (Tuesday) and Andy Serkis (Thursday). [EW]
- Nickelodeon has picked up "Sam & Cat," a combination spinoff of "iCarly" and "Victorious" that follows the adventures of "iCarly's" Sam (Jennette McCurdy) and "Victorious'" Cat (Ariana Grande) as they become BFFs and roommates. Nick has ordered 20 episodes; no word yet on a premiere date. [Deadline]
- CBS has set a date for next year's Emmy Awards telecast. The awards will air Sept. 22, 2013 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. [CBS]
- Seth Rogen and Jeff Goldblum will make return appearances on FX's comedy "The League" later this season. Rogen's Dirty Randy will return on Dec. 13, while Goldblum's Rupert Ruxin is set for the following week's season finale. [Hollywood Reporter]
- Ken Olin ("Brothers & Sisters") will guest-star on an episode of "Criminal Minds" in February. He'll play a father whose two teenage daughters have gone missing -- and becomes the prime suspect. The episode will mark the "Criminal Minds" directing debut for series star Thomas Gibson. [Deadline]
