Jennifer Esposito angry over 'Blue Bloods' 'leave of absence' due to Celiac Disease

Jennifer Esposito is taking a temporary leave from CBS' Friday night hit "Blue Bloods," and she's not happy about it, slamming the network for "shameful behavior."

"Jennifer has informed us that she is only available to work on a very limited part-time schedule," says a CBS TV Studios statement published by Deadline. "As a result, she's unable to perform the demands of her role and we regretfully had to put her character on a leave of absence. She is a wonderfully talented actress and we hope that she will be able to return at some point in the future."

But in a flurry of tweets yesterday, Esposito said she asked for a reduced work load due to doctors' orders stemming from her battle with Celiac Disease. Esposito tweeted: "CBS didn't listen to my doc and I collapsed on set. Which everyone saw! After a week off my doc said I could return to work but CBS implied that I was NOT truly ill and this was a scheme to get a raise! It's been almost two months without brining me back to work + keeping me from working anywhere else! So no [the Deadline report] is not telling you the truth. Absolutely shameful behavior."

The last episode of "Blue Bloods" Esposito filmed is scheduled to air Nov. 2. Her role as partner to Donnie Wahlberg's Detective Danny Reagan will then be filled by a series of guest stars beginning with Megan Ketch (who guested on "A Gifted Man" last season). Esposito herself started as a guest star in the first season of "Blue Bloods" before joining the cast full-time.
