'House' star Lisa Edelstein guesting on 'Elementary'

"House" star Lisa Edelstein is squaring off against another eccentric mystery solver -- Sherlock Holmes instead of Dr. Gregory House -- in an upcoming episode of "Elementary".

According to TVLine, which first reported the casting news, Edelstein will play Heather Vanowen, the CEO of an elite PR firm, in the seventh episode of the new CBS procedural. She meets Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) as part of his investigation into a deadly bombing.

Since her controversial seventh-season departure from "House," Edelstein has appeared on "Childrens Hospital," "American Dad" and an arc on "The Good Wife" as Will Gardner's (Josh Charles) feisty attorney ex.

"Elementary" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on CBS.
