'American Horror Story' Season 2 adds Ian McShane to star-studded cast

ian-mcshane-getty.jpg"American Horror Story" premieres its second season, subtitled "Asylum," in a week's time, but that doesn't mean the whole season is in the can. Case in point -- creator Ryan Murphy is still announcing guest stars.

Murphy tweets Wednesday (Oct. 10), "Guess who's coming to #AmericanHorrorStory Asylum to tussle with Jessica Lange? Legendary Golden Globe winner Ian McShane!"

If you're unfamiliar, McShane is well known on the small screen for his work on "Deadwood," "Kings" and "The Pillars of the Earth." On the silver screen, he recently played famed pirate Blackbeard in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides."

Exciting. We would imagine Al Swearengen can go toe-to-toe with Jessica Lange, even if she is a crazy nun. We can't wait to see what kind of character he's playing.

And in case you missed it, you can now watch the first five minutes of the "AHS" premiere, which debuts Wednesday, Oct. 17 on FX.
