TV ratings: Emmys down from last year as 'Sunday Night Football' scores a win

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012

Ratings for the Emmy Awards look to be headed to a multi-year low in the adults 18-49 demographic. We'll know more when adjustments are made for ABC's live telecast of the awards, but the fast national numbers don't tell a pretty story for the awards, which are down from last year.

A high-profile "Sunday Night Football" game between Baltimore and New England gave NBC the top spot for the night, and late-ending afternoon games scored big for CBS as well.

Because of live telecasts, the numbers for all four networks may change some in the final nationals. For now, NBC sits atop the rankings for Sunday night with 15.9 million viewers and a 9.7 rating/15 share in households. CBS (11.4 million, 7.3/11) came in second, beating out ABC's 10.5 million viewers and 6.8/11. A night of reruns on FOX drew 3.4 million viewers and a 2.0/3.

NBC also ruled the adults 18-49 demographic with a 6.4 rating. CBS, 3.0, edged ABC, 2.9, for second place. FOX posted a 1.5.
