'The Voice' premiere expands, 'The New Normal' and 'Go On' move up a day

new-normal-premiere-date-change-sept-10.JPGNBC is going all-in for the premiere of "The Voice," adding an extra hour on a third night next week and putting the show head-to-head with "The X Factor."

The network has also moved the series premiere of its comedy "The New Normal" to 10 p.m. ET Monday (Sept. 10) to take advantage of "The Voice" as a lead-in, with the pilot of "Go On" following it at 10:30.

NBC is calling its "Voice" rollout an "audition event," and it will encompass four hours over three nights. In addition to the two-hour debut at 8 p.m. Monday, one-hour audition episodes will air at 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. The Wednesday episode will air opposite the Season 2 premiere of "The X Factor," pitting "Voice" judge Christina Aguilera and her fellow pop star and former "Mickey Mouse Club" co-star Britney Spears, now on "The X Factor," in a battle for eyeballs.

"Go On" and "The New Normal" had been scheduled to make their official debuts at 9 and 9:30 on Tuesday night (although the "Go On" pilot has already aired twice, once during the Olympics and once following "America's Got Talent" on Aug. 22). Both shows will air their second episodes on Tuesday.

The changes to Monday means "Grimm" is ending its run on the night a little sooner than planned. New episodes in its regular Friday timeslot start Sept. 21.
