MTV Video Music Awards host: Who is Kevin Hart anyway?

kevin-hart-mtv-vma.jpgThe 2012 MTV VMAs are currently being hosted by Kevin Hart -- no, that guy on the stage is not actually Chris Rock after some steroid abuse. We couldn't help but think "Who?!" when his name was announced. In fact, Hart used his opening monologue to comment on the fact that MTV may have made a mistake in hiring such an unknown to host the show.

We figured we'd give you guys the basics on Hart, so that you know a little more about him than the fact that he kicked off his big Video Music Awards night with a little person joke and a snoozeworthy jab at Kristen Stewart.

Hart has been acting since 2001, when he did three guest spots on "Undeclared."  More recently, he's appeared in films like "The Five-Year Engagement" and "Think Like a Man." He's possibly best known for his role in the "Scary Movie" films as CJ alongside Anthony Anderson. He'll reprise the role in the upcoming "Scary Movie 5."

These days, he's more focused on his stand up, and his stand-up feature "Laugh at My Pain," which is in theaters now.

The 33-year-old comedian was born in Philadelphia, and recently split from his wife of 8 years, Torre Hart. They have two kids together.
