'Last Resort's' Daisy Betts: How she kept 'dummies' out of Hawaii and 10 more things to know

"Last Resort," the new political thriller premiering tonight (Sept. 27) on ABC, Daisy Betts plays plucky Grace Shepard, lieutenant and chief navigator of the nuclear submarine Colorado.

Grace has to contend with hostility not only from her own enlisted men but from the country she's sworn to serve, after her captain (Andre Braugher) disobeys a direct order and the sub is attacked.

Betts, an Australian native and relative newcomer to U.S. TV, is a standout in "Last Resort's" strong (and sexy) ensemble cast, and one of Zap2it's Ones to Watch for the 2012-13 season.

What's the most embarrassing song is on your iPod?
"Under the Sea" from "The Little Mermaid" -- always loved that song. I have met others like me...

Zombie apocalypse or alien invasion?
What...? Is that as in "how I would like my world to end?" Neither. Or what kind of thing I like watching? Neither...until I started watching "The Walking Dead"! But that's about to get really dark and I'm a bit scared.

What was the last white lie you told?
"There are no dummies in Hawaii" -- to my 2-year-old son (a dummy is a pacifier)...Totally worked!

Who is your most recent text message from?
Our 2nd AD on "Last Resort": "Daisy, your call time tomorrow is 4:18 a.m."... So early, I know.

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
Hey, I'm in Hawaii with my family, working on "Last Resort" -- NO complaints from me!

Tell us about your first kiss.
It was one of those "go to kiss the cheek but land half on the lips" moments -- I'm pretty sure I went for the cheek and he turned; he remembers it the other way around. We laughed!

What do you have to have in your carry-on bag on the plane?
Always Australia's very own Lucas' Papaw Ointment for my lips. (It's fermented papaya actually...I know it sounds weird but it's a wonder cream -- put it on dry skin, rashes, burns, cuts, bites etc. That and 100% pure tea tree oil are my cure-alls.)

What food can you not resist? Chocolate!
So predictable. But honestly, when I was pregnant I would have a family-size block of Cadbury Milk Chocolate, blink and it was gone. I'd look over to my hubby and say, You had some of this too, didn't you? He had not...

Which character from "The Breakfast Club" would you have hung out with in high school?
That's probably my number one most-watched movie of my life! I'm pretty sure I had every one of those types in my group at school: I was a Claire/ Andrew/Brian mix... Probably Claire (Molly Ringwald) -- maybe because "16 Candles" was my second-most watched!

What do your friends make fun of you for?
I'm a little OCD... You ask me to look into buying or making something, I'll usually have a spreadsheet of all the options and possible outcomes the next day. (I may have received the Statistics prize at University once...)

What's the most random thing in your purse or wallet?
Perhaps not that random but it's in the clear part at the front of my wallet, and the photo of the chimpanzee melts my heart every time: my Honolulu Zoo membership card!
