Jon Cryer: Biggest Emmy upset win ever?

jon-cryer-emmy-upset-gi.jpgWhen people were predicting who would win Emmy Awards this year, "Two and a Half Men" star Jon Cryer was, at best, considered a long shot to win for best actor in a comedy series.

"Long shot" may not even be the best term -- "afterhtought" is more like it. So when he actually did win Sunday (Sept. 23)? Well, it was one of the biggest upsets we can remember. Even he thought so: "OK, don't panic, people. Something has clearly gone terribly wrong," he joked after he took the stage. "... I didn't actually win this."

But he did, beating out two-time defending winner Jim Parsons of "The Big Bang Theory," critical favorite Louis C.K. of "Louie" (who picked up an award for writing), and past winner Alec Baldwin of "30 Rock," who were generally seen as the three favorites. Don Cheadle ("House of Lies") and Larry David ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") were also nominated.

It was also Cryer's first time competing in the lead category after years of nominations as a supporting actor (he won the award in 2009). The odds just seemed stacked against him.

Were you as surprised at Cryer's Emmy win as he seemed to be?
