Katy Perry rejects 'American Idol's' offer of $20 million - report

katy-perry-american-idol-rumor.jpgApparently "American Idol's" first choice for the young, hip judge was not Nicki Minaj. TMZ is reporting that pop sensation Katy Perry was recruited hardcore to join the judges panel, to the tune of $20 million.

That kind of money beats already-signed judge Mariah Carey's deal by $2 million. But Perry has turned "Idol" down. According to sources, Katy just doesn't feel she can clear her schedule enough and that it isn't the right career choice for her, not even for $20 million.

The word on the street right now is that Minaj and Keith Urban are the frontrunners to join Mariah Carey. There is no word on Randy Jackson's status, though we are keeping our fingers crossed the panel remains only three judges. Four was too much.

What do you think, "Idol" fans? Would Katy Perry have been better than Nicki Minaj?
