'Sons of Anarchy' Season 5 teaser: Jax takes a fall

The first teaser for Season 5 of "Sons of Anarchy" has hit the web, and it hints at major trouble for Jax Teller.

The 30-second spot, which was first posted at Yahoo TV and you can watch above, shows Jax (Charlie Hunnam) riding ahead of the other members of SAMCRO and losing control of his bike when he sees Tara (Maggie Siff) and Gemma (Katey Sagal) in the road. Gemma screams as he crashes through the railing and falls off a bridge while Clay (Ron Perlman) and others watch. (The music is "Trouble Weighs a Ton" by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys.)

If that's not what literally will happen to Jax this season -- because, really, that'd be an awfully big spoiler to put in your first promo -- it's in keeping with what "Sons" creator Kurt Sutter has said about the burden Jax will face as the new president of SAMCRO. As he put it earlier this year, "Can you be the leader of an organized crime syndicate and not become Clay? And if you choose not to become Clay, are you doomed to the fate of John Teller?"

That's not to mention the issue of Tig (Kim Coates) having accidentally killed the daughter of gangster Damon Pope ("Lost's" Harold Perrineau) and whatever entanglements Jimmy Smits' character will bring. So yeah -- Jax will not have an easy time at the head of the table.

"Sons of Anarchy" begins its fifth season in September on FX.
