Russell Brand will be back on FX, network casts 'Bronx Warrants' pilot

russell-brand-fx-getty.jpgRussell Brand will be back on FX in the fall with seven extra episodes of his late-night show, "BrandX With Russell Brand," airing behind brand-new episodes of the network's fantasy football comedy "The League."

"Russell Brand is an extraordinary comedic talent -- inventive, ambitious and fearless -- and we are thrilled to continue our association with him," says FX president John Landgraf. The last of "BrandX's" original run airs Thursday, Aug. 2 at 11 p.m. on FX. The show is shot in front of a studio audience, and features Brand's take on current events, politics and pop culture.

The comedy will return in October.

In other FX news, the network has set its cast for a comedy pilot called "Bronx Warrants," about a group of warrant detectives in -- where else? -- the Bronx who have to hunt down people with outstanding warrants. The catch: they get paid bonuses for every person they bring in, so everyone's looking for money rather than justice.

The show will star Robert Kelly ("NYC 22"), standup comedian Godfrey ("Louie"), Josh Segarra ("Homeland") and Shirley Rumierk ("White Collar"). The pilot will shoot in New York City in mid-August.

FX also announced that it has picked up "Louie" for a fourth season, and is nearing deals to bring back "Wilfred" for Season 3.

The network has also ordered a pilot called "The Bridge," based on a Danish series about a murder investigation that starts with the discovery of a body on the titular bridge, THR reports. The police drama was recently picked up for a second season in its home country.
