'Law & Order: SVU': Adam Baldwin means more trouble for Cragen

adam-baldwin-svu-gi.jpgThe ordeal that started for Capt. Cragen in last season's finale of "Law & Order: SVU" will extend a little while into the new season.

The long-running NBC drama has cast "Chuck" star Adam Baldwin as the Special Victims Unit's interim captain, Steven Harris. He'll first appear in the season premiere, and TV Guide reports Harris will stick around for the show's first three episodes.

Which means, apparently, that Cragen (Dann Florek) will be untangling himself from the situation of last season's finale -- which ended with him waking up next to a dead woman in his bed. The presence of a new captain will ruffle some feathers in the squad.

The season premiere will also introduce Paget Brewster as the lead investigator on the case for the district attorney's office, in addition to bringing back most of the guest stars from May's finale.

"Law & Order: SVU" begins its 14th season on Sept. 26.
