'Hannibal' casts Laurence Fishburne as Jack Crawford

laurence-fishburne-hannibal-gi.jpgNBC's "Hannibal" has added another key piece to its cast, bringing on two-time Emmy winner and former "CSI" star Laurence Fishburne in a recurring part.

Fishburne will pay Jack Crawford, the head of the FBI's Behavioral Sciences Unit and profiler Will Graham's (Hugh Dancy) boss.

"It's a thrill not only to work with him but to see such a brilliant, sophisticated actor step into the shoes of Thomas Harris' brilliant, sophisticated character," "Hannibal" executive producer Bryan Fuller tells EW about Fishburne's casting.

Fishburne is the fourth actor to play Crawford in an adaptation of Harris' Hannibal Lecter novels. Dennis Farina played the character in "Manhunter," Scott Glenn was Crawford in "Silence of the Lambs," and Harvey Keitel played him in "Red Dragon."

Mads Mikkelsen ("Casino Royale") is playing Lecter in the series, which is likely to premiere in 2013.
