'American Horror Story' Season 2: Joseph Fiennes in talks for 'tortured' mental institution head

joseph-fiennes-getty-american-horror-story.jpg"American Horror Story's" second season is working on the last major player for its trip to the 1960s East Coast mental institution - Joseph Fiennes, BAFTA-nominee for "Shakespeare in Love" and star of TV's "Camelot" and "FlashForward," is in negotiations to appear as a regular in Season 2, reports EW.

The British actor would play the head of the mental institution run by Jessica Lange, and he will also be the object of her desire, leading to a May/December romance. The only other thing known about the character is that he's "tortured." We wonder how his character gets along with James Cromwell's Dr. Arden, who works at the hospital.

Fiennes would join returning actors Lange, Zachary Quinto, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters and newcomers Cromwell, Adam Levine, Chloe Sevigny and Lizzie Brochere.

"American Horror Story" will return to FX in the fall of 2012.
