'The Mindy Project': Kaling is FOX's NEW new girl

Mindy Kaling has been killing it for years on NBC's "The Office" -- where she not only co-stars, but writes and executive produces. Now she's got her own thing going and so it's only fair that she title her new FOX sitcom, "The Mindy Project."

In it, Kaling plays a woman a lot like herself, but who happens to be an OB/GYN instead of a TV wunderkind. She's a 30-something single chick trying to make a love connection while hanging on to a demanding career. The show co-stars Chris Messina ("Damages"), Anna Camp ("The Good Wife") and Ed Weeks, but look for guest spots from Kaling pals like "Office" mate Ed Helms and "SNL's" Bill Hader.

"Maybe I won't get married. Maybe I'll do one of those 'Eat, Pray, Love' things," says in-character Mindy. "No, I don't want to pray. Forget it."

Yes, please.

"The Mindy Project" will follow Zooey Deschanel's "New Girl" on Tuesday evenings starting this fall.
