Replace 'Sherlock' quotes with pancake? It's all the rage.
While the BBC's "Sherlock" Season 2 wrapped up its PBS run on Sunday (May 20) and originally aired in the U.K. over the Christmas holidays, the master sleuth is making news in a typically unorthodox way on Twitter with the globally-trending hashtag #ReplaceSherlockQuotesWithPancake. There are indeed many Sherlock quotes undergoing pancake modification and all of them appear to be from the most recent three episodes of the Benedict Cumberbatch/Martin Freeman starring shows. Though, absent any recreational pharmaceuticals, most of them don't seem to be much improved by the pancake substition.
For instance, this perfectly serviceable quote:
"Shame on you, John Watson! Mrs Hudson, leave Baker Street? England would fall!" which becomes, via the stylings of one tweeter -- actually several had the exact same brainstorm, "Shame on you, John Watson! Mrs Hudson, leave Pancake Street? England would fall!"
Or this one:
"How do you stalk a deer with a hat? What are you going to do, throw it? Some sort of death frisbee?" which becomes the pancake flat, "How do you stalk a deer with a pancake? What are you going to do, throw it? Some sort of death frisbee?"
Sherlock himself would probably admire this flippant observation:
"If you #ReplaceSherlockQuotesWithPancake you just have Pancake."
Indeed.
