'Partners': 'One Tree Hill's' Sophia Bush is the third wheel for Michael Urie and David Krumholtz

CBS has shaken up its Monday night line-up for Fall 2012 -- after "How I Met Your Mother" at 8 p.m., they're introducing a new show from "Will and Grace" creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick called "Partners." The series follows lifelong pals, architects Joe (David Krumholtz) and Louis (Michael Urie), whose codependent relationship is complicated by Joe's girlfriend Ali (Sophia Bush) and Louis' boyfriend Wyatt (Brandon Routh).

"It's about four people, two relationships, and three couples," CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler told the press on Wednesday morning. "It's a very honest look at what it means to be in your 20s. You have your very best friend with whom you've grown up... how do you find that balance between what you tell your partner and what you tell your best friend?"

The scheduling puzzled some members of the media. Given that CBS only has one new comedy, it seems strange that they haven't plugged it in immediately after its No. 1 comedy, "The Big Bang Theory," to give it a more fighting chance.

Scheduling boss Kelly Kahl says the decision was made as a result of confidence in "Partners" ability to build its own audience over the course of its first season. "Looking at the best place for 'Partners,' we felt it was Monday at 8:30," he says. "We're looking for it to grow. We don't want to put the pressure on it right away; we want to give it time. In putting 'Partners' there, it's compatible with 'How I Met Your Mother.'"
