'Gossip Girl': Show renewed for sixth and final season

In what really wasn't a huge surprise, The CW is renewing "Gossip Girl" for its sixth and final season.TV Line is reporting that the upper crust from the Upper East Side will get one more run, albeit abbreviated, in the 2012-13 season. The publication is reporting that the show will have either 10 or 11 episodes before wrapping up for good.
EP Stephanie Savage indicated in Jan. 2012 that a pick up was likely when she tells Zap2it, "We're not writing a series finale this year."
In related "Gossip Girl" news, Co-EP Sara Goodman has been promoted to EP. She will replace Josh Safran who is headed off to run "Smash."
