'Go On': Can Matthew Perry bring back must-see TV for NBC?

In "Go On," Matthew Perry plays a quick-talking sportscaster taking time off from work after losing his wife in a car accident. Apparently the comedy part comes in when Perry is pushed to seek counseling and ends up shaking up a support group for the recently widowed with his biting sarcasm.

The show, from executive producer Scott Silveri ("Friends"), is Perry's latest attempt at making a comedy comeback. Last season's ABC comedy, "Mr. Sunshine," ran for just three months in spring 2011 as a midseason replacement before it was scrapped. While critically acclaimed, Perry's "Studio 60 on the Sunset Stri," was no match for "30 Rock" in its own fledgling season and was canceled despite five Emmy nominations.

"Go On" co-stars Laura Benanti ("The Playboy Club"), Julie White ("Transformers"), Suzy Nakamura ("Dodgeball"), Khary Payton ("General Hospital") and Allison Miller ("Terra Nova"). It will air Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET starting in the fall.
