'Devious Maids': Lifetime interested in Marc Cherry's ABC pilot

ana-ortiz-devious-maids-gi.jpgLifetime may give a second life to "Devious Maids," a pilot from "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry that didn't make the cut at ABC for next season.

The cable channel has had some preliminary talks with producer ABC Studios about migrating the show, Deadline reports. "Devious Maids" may also not be the only reclamation project Lifetime undertakes, either: It's reportedly looking at some other (unnamed) pilots the broadcast networks rejected this spring and has also expressed interest in CBS' canceled drama "Unforgettable."

"Devious Maids" is based on a Mexican series and follows the lives of four housekeepers who work for wealthy families in Beverly Hills while dreaming of and scheming for better lives of their own. The cast includes Ana Ortiz ("Ugly Betty"), Judy Reyes ("Scrubs"), Grant Show ("Melrose Place") and Susan Lucci ("All My Children").

Cherry created the show as "Desperate Housewives" was winding down and shares executive producer credit with "Housewives" star Eva Longoria.
