'American Idol' finale: Jessica Sanchez takes on Whitney Houston and Celine Dion to win Rounds 1 and 2
For the "American Idol" finale, Jessica Sanchez was handed (or chose) some big ballads and obviously they were right in her wheelhouse, because she performed them all very well.
"Idol" creator Simon Fuller's choice for Jessica was "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston. It was gorgeous and she definitely won Round 1 over Phillip's "Stand by Me," which was a little boring.
For Round 2, Jessica did "The Prayer" by Celine Dion. It wasn't our favorite choice of hers. It sounded absolutely lovely, but we were initially worried Phillip would whip out "Volcano" and stomp Jessica this round. Instead, he did "Movin' Out" and actually let Jessica maybe win (according to Steven Tyler).
In Round 3, Jessica performed "Change Nothing," which pleasantly surprised us as a good single. Very radio friendly and really let Jessica show off. Randy says, "I did not love the song, but what I did love is that you made something more out of the song." Hmm. We disagree. We kinda liked it. However, Phillip definitely won Round 3, so will her Rounds 1 and 2 be enough?
What do you think, guys? Did Jessica beat Phillip?
