ABC to launch 'Good Afternoon America'

lara-spencer-josh-elliott-abc.jpgWhile "The Revolution" will not be televised, ABC has come up with a "Good" way to fill the time until Katie Couric's talk show hits the air Sept. 10.

The network announced Monday (May 21) that it will soon launch "Good Afternoon America." The program, which is being referred to as an "extension" of "Good Morning America," will feature Josh Elliott and Lara Spencer as co-anchors. ABC adds that "GMA" regulars Sam Champion, Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos will periodically stop by for special appearances.

The one-hour program will debut on July 9 at 2 p.m. ET. It will focus on light news, pop culture, lifestyle and workplace issues. The network has committed to a nine-week run for the show.

"Good Afternoon America" will replace the recently-canceled "The Revolution." The lifestyle talk show, featuring Ty Pennington and Tim Gunn, was sacked after its ratings failed to meet expectations.
