ABC got decent premiere numbers Wednesday from its new comedy "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23," which did a better-than-usual job of holding onto the audience from its lead-in, "Modern Family."

"American Idol," meanwhile, was fairly steady for FOX, dipping slightly in viewers compared to last week but improving on its adults 18-49 rating.

FOX led the night with 16.4 million viewers and a 9.8 rating/15 share in households. CBS (10.4 million, 6.5/10) came in second, a good distance ahead of ABC (6.9 million, 4.4/7). NBC posted 4.2 million viewers and a 2.8/4, while The CW managed only 1 million viewers and a 0.7/1.

"Idol" also gave FOX the top spot among adults 18-49 with a 4.9 rating. CBS scored a 2.6 in the demographic, beating out ABC's 2.4. NBC averaged 1.1 and The CW 0.4.
