'Today': Meredith Vieira announces co-hosting Summer Olympics in London

Meredith Vieira, the former co-host of "Today," stopped by her old morning show stomping grounds Monday morning (April 2) to make a big announcement - she is going to be co-hosting the 2012 Summer Olympics from London for NBC.

"I'm going to be joining you all at the Olympics and I'm very excited. Of all the things that I did when I was on 'The Today Show' for five years, I think the Olympics was my very favorite experience," says Meredith. "When I had the opportunity to go London, I jumped at it."

"I'm going to give people a bit of the flair and the flavor of the host country ... and I'm going to be hosting the opening ceremonies along with [Matt Lauer] and Bob Costas," says Vieira.

She also jokes that because the London broadcast will start at noon local time, she can "just drink all day long."
