For '80s week on
"American Idol,"
Elise Testone
took on one of our favorite power ballads of all time, "I Want to Know What Love Is" by Foreigner. It proved to be a very divisive choice - we thought she sounded great. But the judges had other thoughts.
Steven Tyler said it was not the right song for her, while Randy criticized her pitch. Jennifer Lopez fell back on the old "you look beautiful" critique and said that with her powerhouse voice, she can sing anything. But you could tell J.Lo didn't love it either.
So, which is it? Are you with the judges? Or are you with us, in that it was pretty great? One thing we will say - the year we went to the live tapings, the differences between the songs live and watching them back on TV were sometimes huge. So perhaps this one didn't come across as good live as it did on TV. Will Elise be getting your votes?
