Martina McBride headlining live wedding during Academy of Country Music Awards

We say this with great affection for country music, but ... do country music awards need to get any sillier?

Country superstar Martina McBride and Pat Monahan of Train are performing Martina's new single "Marry Me" during the 47th annual Academy of Country Music Awards (fine, that's not weird) but to "celebrate the message of the song" (the press release's words), a couple will get married live on stage during the performance.

Um, what?

This begs so many questions, such as - so the wedding will be approximately 3:30 minutes long? And will all their family be there? How will anyone hear the vows over the song?

To be fair to the couple, they have a really wonderful, heartbreaking backstory. Christina Davidson and Frank Tucci met in a young widows/widowers support group in New Jersey and now they are getting a second chance at love after losing their first spouses. Which is rather tragic and lovely, but still.

Married on stage at the Academy of Country Music Awards? Hmmm.
