'Downton Abbey's' Mr. Pamuk replaces Ryan Phillippe in TV pilot

theo-james-getty.jpgTheo James, the man who played Kemal Pamuk, Lady Mary Crawley's ... momentary lapse in all of her senses on "Downton Abbey," has been cast in Greg Berlanti's CBS drama "Golden Boy," replacing the previously-cast Ryan Phillippe as the male lead, according to TV Line.

Phillippe has reportedly gotten cold feet and dropped out of the project, so James is stepping in as Walter William Clark, an ambitious young police office who becomes a hero after busting a major drug ring, and perhaps starts to rise a little too quickly within the department.

The executive producers of the show are Berlanti ("Brothers & Sisters," "Dirty Sexy Money") and Nicholas Wootton ("NYPD Blue"). The project also stars Chi McBride ("Boston Public," "Pushing Daisies") and Kevin Alejandro ("True Blood").

Do you think the US viewers are ready for the devastatingly handsome charms of Mr. Pamuk? Tally ho.
