'American Idol' Top 8 tackle songs from the '80s; The Wanted perform 'Glad You Came'

american-idol-top-8.jpgIt's not surprising that Season 11 "American Idol" contestants would have to tackle songs from the '80s at some point during the competition, but it's a little distressing that only one of the finalists was actually alive during the decade. (Elise Testone, you are surrounded by children.)

Top 8 week is dedicated to all things '80s, which could prove interesting for the current crop of competitors. Hollie Cavanagh, Jessica Sanchez and Skylar Laine rocked a Madonna medley during Top 9 week, so maybe the girls will switch from their ballad-only mode and rock out to a more upbeat song.

And maybe Phillip Phillips will do something different from his usual bluesy growl -- hey, we we like, but it could use a little change-up.

On the Top 8 results show, we'll welcome British boy band The Wanted as they perform their "Glee"-approved hit "Glad You Came," as well as the premiere of judge Jennifer Lopez's new video for "Dance Again."
