'American Idol' Scotty McCreery to sing off eliminated contestants
Last year's "American Idol" winner, Scotty McCreery, will be returning to the show on a weekly basis, at least vocally. He's recorded Tim McGraw's "Please Remember Me" as the song that will play during the weekly eliminations."Every week, when the song would play and we'd have to watch the goodbye video, it was always a tough time," McCreery tells USA Today. "I never had to experience it, but I always felt it."
The elimination song was introduced in Season 5 with Daniel Powter's "Bad Day." Since then, it has always been one recorded by an "Idol" winner or finalist.
Season 6: "Home," Daughtry
Season 7: "Celebrate Me Home," Ruben Studdard
Season 8: "Home Sweet Home," Carrie Underwood
Season 9: "Leave Right Now," Will Young
Season 10: "Don't You (Forget About Me)," David Cook
McCreery's "Please Remember Me" will debut on the show this Thursday (Mar. 8) and be available on iTunes starting that day as well.
