Margo Martindale, Beau Bridges are 'Masters of Sex'; Molly Shannon gets 'Enlightened'
We guess winning that Emmy for "Justified" has really paid off for Margo Martindale - you know, in addition to the "winning an Emmy" part. Martindale has booked the ABC comedy pilot "Counter Culture," in which she would play the eldest (and bossiest) of three sisters who run a diner in west Texas. Martindale has also booked a guest-starring spot in Showtime's "Masters of Sex" pilot, the show chronicling 1960s sexual response researchers Masters and Johnson. She will play Miss Horchow, the by-the-book secretary of Masters. [Deadline]
Speaking of "Masters of Sex," Beau Bridges has also been cast as University Chancellor Barton Scully, Masters' boss at the university. Both Martindale's and Bridges' roles are guest stars/chance of recurring. [Showtime]
In non-pilot casting news, "SNL" vet Molly Shannon has signed on to play a recurring role in Season 2 of "Enlightened" on HBO. Shannon will play Eileen, an executive assistant to the CEO of Abaddonn who unwittingly provides damning information about her boss. "Enlightened" just got a Best Actress Comedy win for star Laura Dern. [Deadline]
