'Elementary': Jonny Lee Miller cast as CBS' Sherlock Holmes

jonny-lee-miller-getty.jpgDespite the fact that the BBC has produced what many consider to be the best TV adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes" mysteries ever with "Sherlock," CBS continues to move forward with plans for its own knock-off. And now the network has its leading man: erstwhile "Eli Stone" star Jonny Lee Miller, reports Deadline.com.

Miller will play a modern-day Holmes who lives in New York and, much like the BBC's Holmes, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, will solve cases based on Conan Doyle's source material but with updated twists.

Miller most recently starred in Danny Boyle's stage version of "Frankenstein" in London -- a role he shared with... "Sherlock's" Cumberbatch. He also starred in a 2010 arc on Showtime's "Dexter" and will appear in 2012's "Dark Shadows" big screen adaptation.
