'Downton Abbey' Season 2 finale: 6 things to look forward to
"Downton Abbey" Season 2 comes to a close Sunday night (Feb. 19) with the episode that aired as a two-hour special on Christmas Day in Britain last December. We have yet to see Christmas at Downton and let us tell you, it was worth the wait.
Don't keep reading (or watch the above video) if you don't want to be spoiled. And please keep spoilers out of the comments.
Here are some things to look forward to in the finale:
- Bates is on trial for Vera's murder and Lord Grantham, Mrs. Hughes and O'Brien (uh oh) are called to testify.
- With Bates gone, Thomas is angling for the valet's job. Again. Part of his master plan involves Isis. Let it never be said that Thomas is a brain trust.
- It being the holiday season, Lady Rosamund is staying in Downton and brings with her a new man, Lord Hepworth, and a new lady's maid. Lady Violet goes way back with Hepworth's family.
- Sir Richard is a jerk about several things. Shocking, right? And a fight breaks out between him and Matthew.
- A romantic entanglement we haven't seen since Season 1 returns, meanwhile two characters are not seen at all and we miss them very much.
- One of the best scenes in the whole special is the Servants' Ball. Delightful.
"Downton Abbey" airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on PBS.
