Chris Brown's Grammy return: What did you think?
Call us old-fashioned, but if you're performing on the biggest stage in the music business, we'd think you'd want to leave the Auto-tune at home.Chris Brown didn't -- which is why we came away from performance at Sunday's (Feb. 12) Grammy Awards feeling a little bit nonplussed.
The performance was Brown's first at the Grammys since he assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna (who also performed Sunday) on the eve of the 2009 awards. He performed "Turn Up the Music" and "Beautiful People," and while he showcased a number of athletic dance moves on the multi-tiered stage, it was also pretty obvious that he was, at the very least, relying heavily on Auto-tune and a backing track for his vocals.
The audience at the Staples Center seemed to dig it, but it didn't play especially well on TV. It's also a little hard to erase the memory of why Brown hasn't been at the Grammys for the past few years.
What did you think of Brown's performance?
