Adele
really burst onto the music scene in 2012. So much so that
"60 Minutes,"
introducing its segment with the artist, called 2012 the "Year of Adele." Interviewer
Anderson Cooper
lists her accomplishments: nominated for six Grammys, sold almost 18 million copies of her album "Someone Like You," and in a bit of an interesting trivia fact on today of all days, the same album spent the most weeks at No. 1 since Whitney Houston's "Bodyguard" soundtrack almost 20 years ago.
"The kind of level of fame that I'm dealing with now, it was overnight," says Adele. "I've wanted to be a singer forever, but it's not really my cup of tea having the whole world know who you are."
"I find it quite difficult to think there's 20 million people listening to my album, that I wrote very selfishly to get over a breakup," she continues.
As for her health problems, Adele says she is full recovered from her throat polyp hemorrhage that sidelined her for the last four months. She says now she's better than ever.
"I used to always wonder will I hit that note, even when I wasn't ill. It's basically a clean slate in my throat, it's clear," says Adele.
We can't wait to hear her at the Grammy Awards Sunday night (Feb. 12). For a sneak peek song, watch the "60 Minutes" video above.
